Prof. Edgardo Saucedo, Prof. Zacharie Jehl, Dr. Sergio Giraldo and Ivan Caño have attended and participated in the 32nd International Materials Research Congress (IMRC 2024), organized by the Sociedad Mexicana de Materiales, and held in the JW Marriott Cancun Resort & and Spa and the Marriott Cancun Resort in Cancun, Mexico from 18 to 23 August 2024.

Prof. Edgardo Saucedo presented an Invited Talk discussing the key progresses of solution-based kesterite solar cells to achieve new record efficiencies above 15%. Ivan Caño has participated with an oral presentation about new superstrate and transparent bifacial structures for Cu2ZnSnS4 solar cells, aiming at developing indoor-PV applications. Dr. Sergio Giraldo presented a talk tackling on the strategies to unlock the potential of kesterite solar cells for indoor photovoltaic applications. Finally, Prof. Zacharie Jehl presented an Invited Talk about Se-based photodiodes simulating visual learning via Jsc modulation, enabling zero-power visual processing through thin-film solar cells. All these presentations are based on work developed within the framework of the Sensate project, focused on the synthesis of thin layers of emerging chalcogenides for the development of advanced energy applications.

The conference allowed the opportunity to meet and discuss with international researchers, establishing potential collaborations and common ground for future development of chalcogenide solar cells. In their free time, they had the opportunity to visit the Mayan archaeological sites of Chichén Itzá, Tulum, and Cobá, enabling the possibility to combine a fruitful scientific endeavour with enrichening cultural experiences.
